In the game of Chess, the King is the most important piece—though most consider him the weakest piece until the final stage of the game. The King represents the player’s deeper self, the reason for battle. The Black King is sometimes called The Beast, representing the power and intelligence hidden inside the player. In contrast, the Queen is the most powerful piece, capable of incredible movement across the board. The Queen represents freedom—she is considered a force of nature, representing the player’s limitless potential. Amongst experienced players, movement of the Queen often signals the endgame, when both she and the King become their most vital.
